Due to this water situation, we have been instructed by the city not to open tomorrow as the water may not be safe for consumption. We will update as we know more.
The City of Louisburg is in a Stage 3 water emergency, and all non-essential water use by city water customers is prohibited.
During this water emergency, water customers are prohibited from:
a) Watering lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, plants or wash vehicles, boats or trailer washing or washing of structure exteriors;
b) Industrial uses of water, including but not limited to car wash operations and packing plant operations;
d) Business/commercial uses;
d) Home uses other than those set forth in subsection (a).
The City’s bulk water station will be closed.
The City Council at its meeting Monday, May 4 passed a resolution adopting the Stage 3 Water Emergency due to an equipment failure at the Marias des Cygne Water Treatment Plant located on the Marias des Cygne River located southwest of the community.
The resolution is due to a temporary shortage of the water supply. The resolution will remain in effect until the Governing Body lifts the water emergency.
Customers are directed to conserve water usage to prevent running out of water.
