Ever notice that a magnetic compass doesn't always point exactly where you expect?

The aircraft's electrical systems and metal components create small magnetic fields that can cause the compass to read slightly off. This is called magnetic compass deviation.

That's why every aircraft has a compass correction card. It shows the known deviation for different headings, allowing pilots to make the proper corrections and navigate more accurately.

Even with today's advanced avionics, understanding the magnetic compass, and knowing its limitations, is still an important part of being a safe pilot.

This is one of the most common questions we hear - and the answer is yes! Most students begin flight training with zero aviation experience. You don’t need prior knowledge, technical background, or flight hours to get started. Everything is taught step by step, at a pace that works for you.

At Total Flight Solutions, training is built on:
• A safety-first mindset
• Highly experienced flight instructors
• Structured, proven training programs
• A supportive environment that builds confidence

Students range from teenagers just starting out to adults in their 40s, 50s,
and beyond. There is no age cap on learning to fly.
• 16 years old – Eligible to solo an aircraft
• 17 years old – Eligible for a Private Pilot License
• 18 years old – Eligible for a Commercial Pilot License
• 21 years old – Eligible to fly for the airlines
• No maximum age limit
