𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲’𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞
She wakes before the morning light,
While stars still softly glow,
Ties her apron, warms the stove,
With kindness all aglow.

She stirs the pots and counts the trays,
With practiced, gentle care,
Serving more than just a meal -
There’s comfort in her stare.

A “hello dear,” a “have a good day,”
A smile that feels like home,
For some, it’s the warmest moment
They’ll feel all day long.

She notices the quiet ones,
The ones who need a friend,
Adds an extra scoop of love
No recipe could ever send.

Through busy lines and noisy rooms,
She stands both strong and kind,
A hero in a hairnet cap,
With a heart that always shines.

So here’s to every lunch lady,
Who gives more than we see,
You’re feeding hearts and changing lives -
More than just a meal, you feed.

I may be “just a lunch lady”
No fancy degree to my name
No big house or lavish life
No faraway vacations to claim

But I chose this path with purpose
And I wear this title with pride
Because every child who comes through my line
Feels like family inside

In a moment, I see their stories -
Their laughter, their tears, their days
From birthdays and best friends chatting
To quiet hearts lost in a haze

I hear about new little siblings
And pets they love so dear
I share in their joys and sorrows
Even if just for a second they’re here

Some shine with confidence and laughter
Some wish they could fade away
And in that short walk through my line
I try to brighten their day

A smile, a joke, a kind word
A “you’ve got this” or “I care”
Just something small and meaningful
To show them someone is there

So no, I’m not “just” a lunch lady -
I’m a moment, a smile, a light
And I’m proud of the difference I make
In each child’s day, however slight ❤️
