Hello Trevilians Families,
Here is the Trevilians Eagles Preview for the week of August 24-28.
This week, our students will continue to practice our emergency drills and procedures. We will have another fire drill this week, and our 1st-5th graders will participate in another lockdown drill, this time in our cafeteria. Our PK and KG students will participate in a lockdown drill later in the year. Finally, we will also practice our Bus Evacuation procedures this week, and all students will receive a lesson in bus safety from the LCPS Transportation Department. Teachers will review the procedures for each drill with students before they participate in the drills.
On Friday, LCPS will have its first Green and Gold Day of the year. Students, wear your green and gold outfits and accessories to show your LCPS spirit!
5th grade students - if you would like to participate in holding the flag for the Star Spangled Banner at the LCHS football game on Friday night, don’t forget to turn in your permission slip this week.
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students - if you haven’t turned in your permission slip and/or $5 for the Fredericksburg Nationals STEAM field trip on September 2, please do so tomorrow. You may also complete the form and pay the $5 using the following link - 3rd-5th Grade Field Trip Form.
This week, you will be receiving some information in your child’s folder about an exciting new initiative for which our school has been selected. We will have the opportunity to host a Bella’s Buddies Facility Dog as the newest member of our TES family! This specially trained dog will work alongside our staff to support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students. Our Facility Dog, Waffles, is in a specialized training program designed to prepare dogs to work safely and effectively in educational settings. The dog is trained how to remain calm in busy school environments, respond appropriately to students of all ages, and provide comfort and support while maintaining excellent manners and professionalism. The letter will provide more details on the program, including how Waffles will be used in the school and how we can accommodate students who are allergic to or afraid of dogs. If you have any questions after reading the letter, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Duani.
Here are a few reminders as we move into the 3rd week of school:
Due to our need to account for all students’ allergy and health needs, we will not be able to accept outside food (for events like birthday parties) until Wednesday, September 2.
We want to clarify the division’s policy regarding students returning to school after they are sick. Students must be free from a fever and vomiting for 36 hours before returning to school.
If you need to change your child’s dismissal plan for the day, please call the office before 2:00. We need enough time to relay the changes to the appropriate staff, including the teacher and bus driver, and calling late in the school day makes it difficult for that to happen.
If you have not completed the online back-to-school paperwork for your returning student, please do so as soon as possible. This will provide us with the most accurate information pertaining to your child, and it also includes the technology authorized use form, which must be signed in order for students to continue to be able to use their devices. As a result, if this information is not complete by September 11, students' device use will be suspended until everything is complete.
Finally, if you would like to purchase device insurance and haven’t already done so, please send in your $20 as soon as possible.
Here are some reminders from our PTA:
