This April Bookbuddies will be celebrating 15 years in business. Today I calculated that we have provided care for 111 children. We have been honored to care for children from a variety of differing family structures - children from two parent homes, split parent homes, single parent homes and Foster Care homes. We have cared for 30 plus children with diagnosed Special Needs and welcomed on site therapy visits. We have been visited and reviewed by countless programs and received Quality Counts grants for our pursuit of ongoing education and professional growth. We have tried to honor home cultures and enrich the lives of the children and are proud to be a safe place for a diverse community.
As we celebrate this upcoming anniversary, I would like to thank the many families that have entrusted us with their children, the fellow providers that have been an inspiration, my family for their amazing support, the Therapists that help our children thrive, the agencies that offer support and funding for low income families, the wonderful Assistant Teachers that have been by our side, my incredible husband/co-Teacher for accepting that this job never really stops and being a great partner, my friends for their support and my lovely Los Osos Community.
This year we face the most obstacles thus far with the new TK system and threats of funding cuts to the programs that we work with. We are committed to continuing this work - until we can not and know that we are blessed to work with these beautiful children. Thank you for being a part of our journey.
