Learn about the modern day Muwekma Ohlone Tribe at New Museum Los Gatos!

In Reawakening: Muwekma Ohlone Culture and Connection in Pursuit of Recognition, viewers will learn about the Muwekma Ohlone’s “Trail of Truth” journey on horseback from California to Washington D.C. to advocate for the reinstatement of their federal recognition. On view through November 29, 2026.

Reawakening: Reciprocity of Land, Sea, and the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe focuses on the Muwekma Ohlone’s cultural and practical efforts in land stewardship, including cultural burns and the cultivation of native plants that provide resources for regalia making, food, and traditional healing. This past weekend, we welcomed over 400 artists, parents, teachers, and community members to the museum to celebrate our 97 exhibiting artists featured in ArtNow 2026: Before / Between / Beyond, our 15th annual juried high school art exhibition. It was an incredible afternoon celebrating the artistic talent in Santa Clara County.

A key highlight was announcing this year's award recipients. Over $10,000 in awards and scholarships were presented!

Thank you again to everyone who attended! And congratulations to the award recipients and all exhibiting artists!
