Three divisions of inspiration: how our students helped shape our new logo!
After considering a bigger visual departure early on, we decided to come back to our roots - both symbolically and literally - to help us visualize our school as it stands today.
The task wasn’t easy by any means: after all, how do you create a logo that honors our past - the strength and grit of our four female founders, the generations of students who helped shape and build the school’s legacy, and our nine decades of history in Los Gatos - and celebrates the vibrancy, innovation, and endless opportunities of our new high school in downtown San José?
Our design team at To Be Clear and Hillbrook’s leadership asked our students to dream with us - to share their favorite things about their school and what might best represent their experience.
The artwork we received - with all ages, all grades, all viewpoints, all styles arriving by the handful - were stunning in their variety, color, and vision. Our students were generous with their perspective, their artistic talent, and their hearts. They love their school, and they wanted their logo to reflect that.
One key thing remained the same throughout:
The tree stays.
Save the tree.
Using the artwork shown here as inspiration alongside many others, our design team created a new logo that beautifully captures both Hillbrook’s history and the excitement of this extraordinary transformational moment, as we have grown into a three-division, two-campus community that remains very much one school. And, yes, the new logo features a tree, front and center.
