Fusion Academy in Los Gatos, CA opened in 2013 as Fusion’s 11th campus nationwide. Fusion Los Gatos is a private school where classes are one-to-one: one student and one teacher per classroom. Our Teacher/Mentors can personalize curriculum and pacing for their students’ strengths, interests, and learning style. Students may attend full-time for middle and high school or part-time with classes for credit, tutoring and mentoring, post-secondary counseling, and more.We offer rolling enrollment so students can start at any point, even mid-semester or mid-year.

Plaid Day at Fusion Academy Los Gatos was a total checkmate of fun!

Staff and students showed up in their best plaid, and lunch was full of games. We started with plaid scratchers to see who could find the hidden axe (congrats, Vihaan and Riley M.!). Then we played Pin the Plaid on the Cat with our Homework Café mascots, Fishsticks and DJ Queso. Round one was blindfolded with a sombrero, and round two was walking backwards and just one touch. We wrapped it up with team Pictionary, where each round got trickier: clues allowed, then one clue for +5 points, and finally eyes closed for +10 points. Candy, plaid, and laughs… best way to start off October!

In conventional schools, motivation often comes from external pressure — grades, competition, fear. But that kind of motivation is fragile. It exhausts students. 🥺

Real motivation comes from something else: knowing you have support. Knowing you can ask for help without judgment. Knowing someone is paying attention to whether you're actually succeeding.

When a student feels that, they stop pushing through obstacles and start solving them. And focus becomes possible.

When a student struggles in traditional school, the blame usually falls on the student. Lazy. Unmotivated. Not trying hard enough. 😵‍💫

But what if the problem isn't the student? What if it's that the system was never designed for how they learn? One lesson, one pace, 30 kids — that's efficient. But it's not effective for every learner.

For 11 years at Barnstable Academy, Jeff has been doing something rare: he's built a classroom where curiosity is contagious. Students leave his STEM classes still buzzing about experiments and discoveries.

But Jeff's impact ripples far beyond his classroom. He opens his door to colleagues. Leads professional development. Mentors teachers. Organizes the school events. And after the bell rings? He's hosting game nights, building community.

A full week celebrating our planet through art, with upcycling and mending led by one of our art teachers, Linda, bringing reduce, reuse, recycle to life. Our Student Workshop: Critical Thinking sparked engaging conversations about social media and its impact on mental health. Prom was such a fun, unforgettable night filled with dancing, laughter, and full hearts. Ending April with joy and gratitude.
