Started this with a heart full of passion, a mind full of ideas, and absolutely no idea what I was signing up for! ❤️

Four years later: learnt a lot, got a few things right, got plenty wrong, and somewhere between the two we figured out exactly where we are going. 📈

Still believe the same thing. Social and emotional learning is a core skill, not a nice to have. Kids can be taught to think and to feel, and neither one is soft. 🤝

None of this looks glamorous from the outside. Which is sort of the point!

The most important part of social-emotional learning never happens on a screen. It happens in the conversation after it.

A story can spark something. A question can open a door. But a child really learns what kindness or courage feels like when a trusted adult sits with them and talks it through.
No app can stand in for that. We never wanted ours to.
When people hear AI and SEL together, many picture a child alone with a screen, while the teacher fades into the corner.

We don't want that any more than you do.
Teaching young children was never really about the lesson. It's everything around it. The planning long after your own kids are in bed. The lying awake over the quiet one who slipped through the cracks again.

That's the weight we wanted to lift. Not the teaching.
With Troo, the session is ready before the teacher walks in. And that's exactly where their real work begins.

Reminder for the parent who feels a little guilty when their kid is "just playing".

You do not need to tidy it, schedule around it, or make it more "useful."

The blanket fort taking over your living room. The 20-minute negotiation over who gets to be the dog. The game with rules only your kids understand. It is already doing more for your child than almost anything you could put on a calendar.

We found a few things about why that genuinely surprised us. And the next time they are happily lost in something that looks like nothing, try leaving them in it a little longer.

Save this for the days you forget, or send it to a parent deep in the noise of small kids.

A school counsellor said this to me last month:
"Our children can name every emotion on the feelings chart. I'm just not sure they know what to do when they actually feel one."

It's stayed with me. Because it names something a lot of schools are quietly sitting with.

Across India, the UAE, and the US, the same things keep coming up. SEL riding on one teacher's bandwidth. Dashboards measuring activity instead of change.

AI showing up faster than the guardrails around it. Parents kept at the edges of work that mostly continues at home.
None of it gets solved by more content.

At Troo, we're thinking of SEL less as a product and more as an architecture. Something that has to hold across the classroom, the home, and the years in between. Built with educators, not just for them.
