Literary calaveras (or literary skulls) are one of the most ingenious, festive,

and profound expressions of Mexican culture. Through rhyme, humor, and

imagination, they allow us to view death not with fear, but with mischief,

respect, and poetry.

In this second volume of Literary Skulls, I continue to celebrate a tradition

that unites generations, schools, families, and communities. Each verse

opens a door to wordplay, creativity, and a love for our roots. The literary

skull not only entertains—it also teaches, provokes reflection, and keeps

alive a very Mexican way of understanding life.

This book invites children, young people, teachers, and readers of all

ages to discover the power of words. Here, death walks among flowers,

laughter, characters, dreams, and memories; in addition, it appears as a

mischievous figure who reminds us that life should be celebrated with art,

culture, and heart.

As an author and Spanish teacher, I hope these pages inspire you to

write, read, imagine, and appreciate the richness of the language. Literary

skulls are a cultural heritage that deserves to live on, especially among the

younger generations.

With joy, respect, and much affection, I present this Literary Skulls II as

a continuation of that dialogue between Mexican tradition, poetry, and

creativity.
