Sexual Health Zine Initiative

Sexual Health Zine Initiative Los Angeles/UCLA based youth sexual health zine workshops. Over the past year we have developed sexual health zine-making workshops for high school students.

We are both seniors in the World Arts and Cultures department at UCLA who are interested in visual arts, education, and sexual health. Zines are self-published mini magazines that combine visual art forms and diverse writing styles. Our workshops invite high school students to collaboratively create zines that explore and address contextual sexual health topics in creative ways that resonate with their peers. In order to eliminate the stigma surrounding youth sexual health and increase student agency in education, we encourage the use of personal narratives, interactivity, humor, and creative expression in the process of zine making. Content created by students during workshops will be compiled into a collaboratively published zine, which will include local, national, and international youth resources, that will be distributed throughout the school.
