Pure Praxis

Pure Praxis Pure Praxis is an improvisational performance group dedicated to fostering prevention, awareness, and cultural change.

Our Performance Education Workshops promote cultural and social change by using live, high energy, socially adaptive theater to re-create difficult real world situations so that the audience can rehearse pro-active responses. By providing a safe space for discussion and practice, we empower audiences to explore new, positive ways to respond to conflict and step up as active bystanders. Led by Pure Praxis Founder/President Kelly Pfleider, our team of skilled and diverse Performance Facilitators and Actor-Advocates explore topics that are both complex and sensitive in order to empower audiences to become part of the solution. And since the entire performance is guided by the audiences’ participation, every show unique! Pure Praxis is currently contracted with the Department of Navy, Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Office to provide training at installations both domestically and internationally.

We often know the clinical definition. We know the statistics. We know the warning signs.

But none of those things tell us the story of the person behind those numbers

Recently at Travis Air Force Base, we had the opportunity to present ‘Welcome Home’ our interactive training on PTSD and su***de; one rooted in people, connection, and the courage to ask the hard questions.

Because behind every number is a person. And every person matters.

Thank you, Travis Air Force Base for trusting PurePraxis with this conversation.

Part 2 for the people in the back!

09/30/2026

PART 1/2 Some stories deserve more than a headline. We demand action be taken instead!

The allegations involving a former Cornell University student raise painful and important questions about sexual violence, bystander intervention, accountability, and what happens after someone comes forward.

This video is about those questions and the lack of proper response from an institution that carries a lot of weight in this country.

Please watch, listen, and keep the conversation going. Survivors deserve so much more.

A message from our founder, who is raising a boy herself:

One day, our sons will find themselves in moments where staying quiet is easier than speaking up. Where going along with the group is easier than challenging a friend.

We need our boys to be prepared for those moments long before they happen.
That work starts with us.

What if we helped teens recognize an unhealthy relationship before they found themselves trapped in one????!!!!

PurePraxis was honored to present at The Network Against Domestic Abuse (The Network: Advocating Against Domestic Violence )exploring IPV and the subtle dynamics of unhealthy relationships through an interactive training experience.

Through immersive storytelling, participants watched unhealthy patterns emerge while identifying subtle signs of control, manipulation, and coercion.

And it reinforced something we believe deeply:

We shouldn’t wait until adulthood to start these conversations!!!!!!

Teens are already navigating dating, boundaries, jealousy, communication, social media, and pressure. Giving them the opportunity to explore what healthy vs. unhealthy relationships look like—and actually practice how to respond—can help prepare them for the relationships they are building now and in the future.

Prevention starts with recognition. And sometimes the most important thing we can give a young person is the ability to say:

“This doesn’t feel healthy, and I know what to do next.”

Leaders: What are your teams hiding behind their professional smiles?

When a workplace culture over-indexes on compliance and politeness, managers are often left in the dark until an issue escalates into a crisis.

Leadership under pressure means learning how to read the room, invite the unmasked truth, and handle the discomfort of real-time feedback.

“Everything is fine.”

But is it?

Frequently, the social mask covers up real friction because people are calculating the personal cost of breaking the peace. Silence isn’t always alignment; often, it’s just a well-fitted mask.

Organizations that value true accountability need to provide spaces to practice the exact moments where polite silence usually wins.

Professionalism is useful. A permanent social mask is hazardous.

When teams prioritize looking fine over being honest, critical insights and boundary concerns get buried. Real cultural readiness isn’t about maintaining perfect composure—it’s about building the collective capacity to say what needs to be said when it matters most. That requires practice, not just policies.
