Please contact Indira Somani ([email protected]) if you are interested in the following opportunity:

Dear Graduate Indian Student Assn.:
My name is Indira Somani, and I'm an MFA student in the School of Theater, Film and Television. I will be producing a film profiling an international student on campus, and I am trying to find a grad student who would be a good subject for my film. I would like to talk to him/her about the film shoot.
Here are some perimeters:
1) Someone who is a graduate student who has just arrived in this country or in his/her 2nd year.
2) Preferably someone from Asia, Africa or the Middle-East
I'd like to profile an international student at UCLA. I've done a lot of research on "cross-cultural adaptation" prior to joining the MFA program. I've always been interested in the the process of the cross-cultural adaptation experience by international students who migrate to the U.S. for higher education. Many of the TAs at UCLA are of international backgrounds. I am focusing on how the international student maintains his/her cultural identity in the U.S. but also faces obstacles and challenges in adjusting to life in the U.S. Regardless, I'm looking for an international student, who would be a good subject for the film.

Sincerely,
Indira Somani

Indira S. Somani, Ph.D. Indira S. Somani, Ph.D. studies effects of satellite television on Indian immigrants. Currently, Dr. Somani teaches at Howard University in Washington, DC.
