Excited to share the ZERO SOUTH vehicles have rolled to an even brighter location at The Petersen Museum in Los Angeles with Buddy 1 (PTV2) greeting visitors as their first vehicle experience, and Tuezday (PTV1) chillin in the porte cochere with just two inches of clearance for the gear rack. As with anything we do, logistics were tricky but having good people on hand means things get figured out.

Here's 'Tuezday' shortly after rolling into the world-famous Petersen Museum in Los Angeles. Let's all support our local museums!

Arnold Schwarzenegger On Hand For Presentation Of World’s First Electric Hummer H1 09/22/2017

Congratulations to our friend, Arnold Schwarzenegger -- finally the proud owner of an electric Hummer! This looks to be an impressive conversion resulting in a better, stronger, faster vehicle. I’ve always thought, by simply driving an electric H1, the Governor can do more to inspire worldwide transition to electric vehicles than any literacy program can hope to achieve. Very exciting!

ZERO SOUTH Time Capsule Post #016: Some may find this to be an exciting event. This video was taken the first moment PTV1's electric motors came online. Like a heart transplant patient, the vehicle is surrounded by monitors, wires, battery managers and plug-in chargers--and, of course, by our team. It inspired a segment we eventually filmed at Sony called, 'It's Alive!!' You'll see in the ZERO SOUTH season one opening episode, 'HUMMER TO HYBRID' (also known as the vehicle-build episode). This was filmed in March 2012 at Downey Studios and, as you can see, we are still in the early stages of the electric-integration process. Standing around is our excited team and, true to engineering form, a problem is encountered immediately. Fortunately, problems are no match for this group when you have Erik Hatch at the helm and tech heads like Pat Young, Jim Nagashima, Jerry Benson, Michael (T-Rex) Kadie, Logan Brabham and Dave Lovejoy in the room. Like a doctor, T-Rex checks individual battery module voltages while Jim, Jerry, Erik and Pat orchestrate a test to spin the rear electric motor followed by the front motor. Incidentally, Jim, Jerry and Erik worked together at General Motors on a couple vehicle projects you might be familiar with, like the Volt and the original EV-1 electric car--so you could say, these guys have forgotten more about electric vehicles than I'll ever know.

I like this video because it shows how we packaging the various components within the H1's chassis. My main job was in getting everyone together on a regular basis and making sure we had the facilities and parts we needed each week--oh, and if you noticed the bright colors on all the pieces--that's me :-)

How lucky are we to have attracted such wonderful souls with the best mix of talent and disposition? My experience working with this team has been the best professional experience I've ever had. The ZERO SOUTH vehicle is an assemblage of different technologies but there was always someone on the team who had direct, in-depth experience with a component in question. I've never worked with group where there was someone you could go to to overcome any problem or challenge. These guys could find the root cause of a problem quickly--often with little or no investigation--and each one was highly engaged. They would step in and fix things without a lot of chit chat. The process of converting our vehicle to electric with this team was simply exhilarating.
