Camino Nuevo Charter Academy

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, many enslaved Black Americans did not find out until June 19, 1865, when news of their freedom finally reached Galveston, Texas. Slavery was not fully abolished nationwide until the ratification of the 13th Amendment later that year.

Juneteenth is a time to honor the resilience, contributions, and achievements of Black communities while also reflecting on the injustices that Black Americans have faced throughout history. We encourage our community to use this day as an opportunity to learn, engage in meaningful conversations, and recognize the work of Black activists and leaders who have fought, and continue to fight, for equity and justice. 🧡

Hoy celebramos Juneteenth, un día que marca el fin de la esclavitud en los Estados Unidos. Aunque la Proclamación de Emancipación se promulgó en 1863, muchos afroamericanos esclavizados no se enteraron hasta el 19 de junio de 1865, cuando la noticia de su libertad finalmente llegó a Galveston, Texas. La esclavitud no se abolió por completo en todo el país hasta la ratificación de la 13.ª Enmienda más adelante ese mismo año.

On Monday, 50 parents from our CNCA Castellanos-Eisner community enjoyed a special day at Disney California Adventure in recognition of their dedication and partnership throughout the 2025-26 school year.

These families earned their tickets by completing volunteer hours, contributing to an amazing milestone of more than 4,000 volunteer hours completed by Castellanos-Eisner families this year! 🧡

Thank you to every family member who gave their time, energy, and support to our students and school community. 🌱
