Supporting mental health and well-being is at the heart of Blind Children’s Center (BCC), and during Mental Health Awareness Month, BCC is proud to highlight its holistic, family-centered approach to helping children, parents and caregivers. 💛
At BCC, wellness extends far beyond the classroom. From support groups and parent walks to dental clinics and nutrition workshops, the Center cares for the whole family and empowers parents and caregivers with the tools and resources they need to support their children. 🌱
For Liz Aguirre, assistant director of family services, and Stephanie Vanegas, health and nutrition coordinator, that service begins with trust, connection and community.
“It takes a village,” said Liz. “Parenting is not meant to be done alone.”

Tiny bikes, big skill building! 🚲🧠
When a child rides a bike, they are doing more than following a bike path. Bike riding strengthens gross motor skills, improves balance and coordination, and sensory processing! This is why, incorporating bike stations into our remodeled playground was a key decision to support our students development.
