As we near the end of National Mental Health Awareness Month, Reading Partners encourages you to keep prioritizing your mental well-being 💛
For each of us, that can look different, but what matters most is being intentional about the things that support us.
And yes, reading (it's in our name 📚) is a powerful place to start:
📙 Brain boost — Reading daily keeps your mind sharp and improves memory
📘 Stress relief — A good book helps you escape daily worries and find calmness
📙 Better vocabulary — Reading expands your word bank, building confidence and connection
📘 Improved focus — Reading trains your brain to concentrate in a busy world
👉 What do you like to do to support your mental health?

📚 Today we’re celebrating World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, also known as Cultural Diversity Day!
It’s a reminder to explore and engage with stories from a variety of cultures and perspectives. 💛
Looking for a fun, easy way to get started? Pair reading with a simple activity! For example, if you’re reading a book about an igloo? Try making one out of paper or drawing your own ❄️✂️
Small, creative moments like these can help bring stories to life. Thank you for embracing the incredible cultures that make our world a beautiful place!

Health isn’t just physical. 💚 Today, we’re shining a light on mental health for our kids.
Happy Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day! 📚✨
We’re sharing a few book recs to help young readers (and grown-ups, too) better understand the many ways mental health can show up in our lives.
More importantly, take a moment today to do something that brings you joy—big or small. You deserve it! 💫

Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! We’re pleased to spotlight some AANHPI authors with you. We hope you check them out and add their books to your list. 😊📚
Oliver Chin is the author of twenty children's picture books, a graphic novel on 9-11, and a sports commentary on Yao Ming and the Tao. Oliver enjoys creating stories that both kids and adults can get a kick out of (and enjoy countless times), and collaborating with amazing artists who bring these brave new worlds to life.
Author Mitali Perkins has written many books for young readers, including You Bring the Distant Near (nominated for a National Book Award) and Rickshaw Girl (adapted into a film), all of which explore crossing different kinds of borders. Her goal is to make readers laugh or cry, preferably both, as long as their hearts are widening.
Liza Ferneyhough is an illustrator based in Austin, TX, with roots in Malaysia, England, and the Bay Area. Liza worked as a children’s bookseller, a designer, and a freelance illustrator. Nana, Nenek & Nina, her debut picture book as an author/illustrator, was published by Dial Books for Young Readers in 2022.
Mike Curato is an author-illustrator for children, teens, and adults. His YA graphic novel Flamer earned multiple awards and was named one of NPR’s Best Books of 2020. A strong advocate for free speech, he creates stories centered on love, compassion, and friendship. His debut adult graphic novel, Gaysians, was released in June 2025 to critical acclaim.
