The CIRP Freshman Survey offers a comprehensive snapshot of your incoming first-year students before they even set foot on campus.

High School Behaviors: Gain insights into students' academic and extracurricular activities during high school.

Your First College Year Survey (YFCY) is now open for administration!

The YFCY survey measures students’ academic, social, and co-curricular experiences and development throughout the first year of college. It is the second in the HERI longitudinal survey series.

Focus: Academic experiences, extracurricular involvement, satisfaction and sense of belonging, perceptions of campus climate, interactions with diverse others, student-faculty interactions, health and wellness, and perceptions of intellectual growth.

Together, with the American Council on Education (ACE) and UCLA School of Education & Information Studies, we have released a new report: Understanding the Entering Class of 2024: Key Insights from The CIRP Freshman Survey 2024.

Based on responses from over 24,000 students across 55 institutions, this report illuminates the growing diversity of today’s first-year college students, their financial pressures, academic confidence, and mental health challenges. These insights provide an evidence-based roadmap for higher education leaders to navigate institutional policy in our complex and often fraught political landscape.

At a time when understanding and supporting students has never been more critical, this report underscores the power of data-driven research to shape policies that ensure all students can thrive.

The American Council on Education released the third brief in a series planned in partnership with the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies (UCLA Ed&IS): Faculty Perceptions of Student, Institution, and Community Engagement.

The brief uses data from our 2023 HERI Faculty Survey (FAC) and includes questions the authors think administrators should ask when analyzing faculty-student interactions.

American Council on Education recently used some data to address reasons for students leaving college; their report is featured in Inside Higher Ed today.

Academic challenges, financial constraints and family responsibilities were among the biggest reasons students said they left, according to a recent survey.
