St. Genevieve icon Rose Corpuz has gone home to God. Rose was responsible for laying a foundation and setting a standard of excellence for the St. Genevieve music program.

During her years at St. Genevieve, she built choirs at both the elementary and high school levels and inspired a generation of students through her talent, dedication, and kindness. Rose had a remarkable gift for drawing out the very best in her students.

She was a star to former president and Mrs. Carter. Whether in Plains, Georgia, or Panorama City, Rosalynn and President Jimmy Carter would always seek Rose out in any crowd for a hug, warm greeting and to express their admiration for the extraordinary talent she cultivated.

Many still remember watching with pride as our choir competed against schools from across the nation at the Grand Ole Opry.

Beyond her accomplishments, Rose was simply a joy to be around — gracious, devoted, and deeply loved by students, families, faculty, and friends alike.

Her impact on St. Genevieve will always be remembered, and her legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Her musical brilliance helped inspire the vision for our soon-to-be Performing Arts Center.

She was a devoted and talented teacher, treasured friend, and faithful member of our community who will be missed dearly and gone far too soon.

We also remember her beloved family with gratitude and prayers, especially her son Carlos and daughter Angela, both proud graduates of St. Genevieve Parish Schools.
