The annual trip to Underwood Family Farms is always a highlight for our TK and Kinder students. Our youngest dragons get to pick strawberries fresh off the vine, feed the animals, and go on a tractor ride and experience all the farm has to offer. What more could you ask for!

Dragon Fest last week was so much fun!!! We started off by handing out our value awards to each class (strong minds, helping hands, kind spirits, brave hearts) and then it was time for some friendly competition! We have one more Dragon Fest at the end of the year and we can’t wait!

Bright Star Schools Community Update: All Bright Star schools are open, safe, and fully operational, and our students’ education will continue without interruption. The United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA)/Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) strike does not include independent charter schools.
Bright Star Schools is committed to providing a safe, secure, and high-quality learning environment every day. We strongly encourage all students to attend school regularly to stay on track academically.
We will keep you informed as the situation evolves and remain committed to supporting our students’ uninterrupted education. We hope for a resolution that benefits all students and educators across Los Angeles.

On Friday our 2nd graders took a trip to the LaBrea Tar Pits! They had so much fun exploring the fossils and different exhibits.

What a way to end the week! The elementary and middle schools came together to celebrate lunar new year with a lion dance! Students heard the origins of the lion dance before seeing it in action and then some of them got to participate in another dance with the dragon! We love extending learning beyond the classroom walls and what better way to do it than with a cultural celebration.

The learning doesn’t stop when the bell rings! Our students who are enrolled in the Woodcraft Rangers afterschool program got to put their spelling skills to the test in a spelling bee this afternoon. Congratulations to the winners! We are so proud of everyone who participated.

100 days smarter! Monday was the 100th day of school and our dragons had so much fun celebrating. From dressing up as 100 year olds (have you seen a cuter grandpa?!) to making fruit loop necklaces with buddies the day was a huge success!

The family survey is live and we want to hear from YOU! This is your chance to share what’s working for you and how we can improve. Each family has a unique access code and we are asking one adult per family to fill in the survey.
Every student whose parent completes the survey receives a surprise dessert!
First class to 100% completion receives an extra recess at Lafayette Park
Second place receives a pizza party
Third place receives a popcorn party
Each family who completes the survey will be entered into a raffle to win a Kindle Fire (1 per grade span; TK-2 and 3-5)
