ATTENTION WINTER 2020 NEUROSCIENCE 199ABC/198AB STUDENTS:

This is a reminder that Neuroscience 199ABC/198AB reports are due at 11:59pm, Friday, March 20th (last day of finals week) on CCLE. We have extended the submission deadline for those that may still be awaiting e-signatures from their faculty mentors.

What is due?
- NS 199A/198A – Status Report
- NS 199B/198B – Complete Report (NS 199B) or Thesis (NS 198B)
- NS 199C – Complete Report

* Please consult your faculty mentor regarding the specific details of your report (I.e. Content, format, etc).

What do I need to turn in? Who do I turn in materials to?
To your faculty sponsor:
1.Cover page for his/her signature
a. (Due to the transition to remote learning, you have the option to obtain the signature in person or have the faculty provided an e-signature on the cover page to send back to you to upload to CCLE. )
2.Printed or emailed copy of report

To NSIDP via upload to CCLE: NS 198/199 Report and Cover Page
1. Digital file of report with a scanned copy of faculty-signed cover page via the Turn It In Tab
2. If unable to upload cover page with rest of report, go to “Assignments” tab to upload just the cover page

NOTE: We simply use TurnItIn as a means to collect your reports and keep them on file. As always, academic integrity is a must and please give credit to any cited literature.

Greetings Neuroscience Bruins,

Thank you all again for your patience as we navigate the Spring Quarter transition to remote learning. Regarding Neuroscience (NEUROSC) 199ABC/198AB research contracts for the Spring Quarter, we have updated important information that was presented at a research labs town hall yesterday. The updated protocol provided below was presented by Deans Kelsey Martin and Victoria Sork and the attached document presenting alternatives for 199/198’s was provided by the Undergraduate Research Center- Life Sciences.

First, if you are able to defer starting your NEUROSC 199A/198A research contract, we recommend waiting until the Fall Quarter to begin when we hope to all be back on campus.

Second, if you are continuing with a NEUROSC 198B, 199B, or 199C research contract OR must begin NEUROSC 199A or 198A to graduate within your time to degree, please read below:

UPDATE: It was presented at the town hall that undergraduate students will not be able to participate in lab research in-person for Spring Quarter. However, Dean Sork emphasized that faculty mentors can try to identify remote lab activities for you to carry out to complete your 199/198 contracts.

Because undergraduate students will not be able to continue lab research in-person, please review and share the document attached in this email from the Undergraduate Research Center (URC)- Life Sciences with your faculty mentor about alternative options for completing your contract.

We are putting the finishing touches on a CCLE site to upload your contracts and will provide updated directions soon about how to turn in the contracts and supplemental information remotely. Spring Quarter contracts will still be due by Friday of Week 1 to allow time for approval and enrollment.
