Students of the Week! 🌟

This week, we’re celebrating two outstanding WISH Academy seniors who exemplify leadership, dedication, and what it means to be a WISH scholar! 🦉

Between AP classes, college courses, ASB leadership, and full schedules, Ryan and Andrew still made time to prepare heartfelt speeches in support of WISH’s charter renewals. They joined our principals and several founding WISH parents at the LAUSD Board meeting, ready to advocate for the schools and community they care about. 👏

As it turned out, both renewals were approved on the consent agenda, so their speeches weren’t needed, but their willingness to show up, speak up, and represent WISH spoke volumes! ❤️

Ryan and Andrew, thank you for leading with purpose and demonstrating the power of student voice. We are so proud of you! 🤩

All Hands In for Team WISH! 🙌❤️💙

This week, WISH scholars, parents, faculty, staff, and community members showed up (in-person and over the phone) at the LAUSD Board meeting, ready to share their stories and speak to why WISH deserves charter renewal. 💪

Their voices reflected the impact of our schools and the collective commitment to an education rooted in academic excellence, inclusive practices, and belonging. 🥰

As we celebrate our charter renewals, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who took the time to advocate for WISH and help ensure our mission continues to serve scholars and families for years to come. 🫶

Staff Member of the Week! 🌟

This week, we’re thrilled to celebrate Megan Shea, one of WISH Academy’s original teachers and a true trailblazer! 🎉

Since WISH Academy first opened its doors, Megan has helped shape the school community through her dedication to teaching, leadership, and student success. As Humanities Department Lead, she teaches a range of courses, including U.S. History, Criminal Justice, Government & Economics, and AP Government, inspiring scholars to think critically, explore diverse perspectives, and form their own informed ideas. 👏

Beyond the classroom, Megan leads WISH Academy’s National Honor Society chapter, mentors colleagues, and continually goes above and beyond for our scholars and school community. 💫

Above all, we’re grateful for the heart, hard work, and care she brings to everything she does. Thank you, Megan, for your years of dedication and for continuing to help lead the way at WISH Academy! We’re so lucky to have you. ❤️
