It has been three months since Nolan Wells was murdered in Mississippi. Not drowned. Murdered. On Monday, Black Lives Matter - Los Angeles organizers met Nolan’s parents. I got to put my arms around his parents and pledge our continued support as they demand a federal investigation.

I am still unpacking from the Congressional Black Caucus’ Annual Legislative Conference, literally and figuratively… I went to “CBC Weekend” for the first time when I was 26 or 27. I didn’t even know that they had panels during the day. I rolled to DC, hair done and dressed to the nines to...

This Saturday, April 4th, the 58th anniversary of Dr. King’s martyrdom, please join us at Cal State Los Angeles’ MLK Lecture Hall for a gathering of pro-Black radical thinkers, leaders, and cultural producers. Unity Uprising convenes in the spirit of the great convergences of the 1960s when Malcolm and Martin, the Panthers and liberation theologians, socialists and cultural nationalists held in tension the full complexity of Black freedom struggle and broke new ground in the struggle for collective liberation.

Rooted in African and Diasporic Radical Traditions, and hosted by professors Melina Abdullah and Butch Ware, this gathering brings together leading figures in movement politics, culture, and organizing. The goal is to revisit and resurrect traditions of resistance and rebellion, radicalism and revolution.
