Sunrise Elementary School has been serving the children and families of the Boyle Heights community for over 20 years. In 2008, the school staff and community voted to join the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, a non-profit organization that supports public schools. in 2012, our long-time principal, Mr. Sandoval retired, and Ms. April Ramos-Olona began her tenure as principal. Ms. Bethelmy’s 1st graders proudly celebrated their book “Mrs. Bethelmy’s World Travelers.” 🌍
Throughout their journey, students explored diverse cultures, meaningful monuments, and delicious foods from around the globe. Each page reflected their curiosity, creativity, and growing understanding of the world.
Now inspired and full of wonder, these young explorers are ready to dream big, travel far, and embrace new adventures. The world is waiting for them. 💙💛🏫

🌋 Volcano Scientists in Action! 🌋
Today, our students became scientists during a fun volcano eruption experiment! Wearing lab coats and goggles, they used baking soda, vinegar, and red dye to create bubbling “lava.” 🧪🔬
🌊📚 Congratulations to the young authors in Ms. Munoz’s Kindergarten class on publishing their class book, Ocean Animals! Each student proudly wrote about their favorite ocean animal, showcasing their creativity, imagination, and growing writing skills.
To celebrate this incredible accomplishment, students participated in a special book reading and author signing event! ✍️🐠 We are so proud of these talented young scholars and all they have learned and achieved this year. The future is bright for our Sunrise Sabcercats! 💙
