Auditioning has changed. More actors than ever are recording from home, often without the benefit of immediate direction from a casting or booth director. Today’s voice actors are expected to wear multiple hats, serving as the actor, director, and creative decision-maker all at once.

In this four-week online workout, Barbara Niles will help you strengthen one of the most important audition skills: creating multiple, distinct reads that still serve the copy. How often have you submitted a second take only to realize it sounds almost identical to the first? A little faster, a little softer, but not truly different?

Through weekly practice and feedback, you’ll learn techniques for making stronger choices, approaching copy from different angles, and developing reads that feel intentional, authentic, and varied. The goal isn’t to make random adjustments; it’s to build the skills and confidence to deliver multiple believable interpretations while staying true to the script.

Equally important, this workout is designed to foster a supportive community where actors can experiment, take creative risks, and continue strengthening their audition muscles together.
