Henderson for CA Superintendent

Henderson for CA Superintendent LA Community College Trustee | Teacher | LA County Quality & Productivity Commissioner | Cal State faculty & union organizer | Wife, mom & grandma

I’m a lifelong educator, union advocate, and proud public school graduate running to be California’s next State Superintendent of Public Instruction. From the classroom to the boardroom, I’ve spent nearly 30 years fighting for students, teachers, and working families. I started as a teaching assistant in LAUSD, taught middle school math in Compton, and now serve as a faculty advisor helping prepare future educators in the CSU system. As a Trustee for the Los Angeles Community College District, I’ve led efforts to expand mental health support, student housing, dual enrollment, and workforce programs—while raising pay for faculty and classified staff. Now I’m ready to bring that same classroom-grounded leadership to Sacramento. Our kids deserve fully funded public schools, not privatization. Our teachers deserve dignity, not burnout. And our communities deserve a champion who listens, leads, and never stops fighting—until the work is done.

Please don't wait until June 2nd. You have a ballot, bubble in your choices, sign the envelope and drop it in an official ballot box or drop it off at any vote center.

One of the many reasons behind the "teacher shortage". This gets old, quickly.

This is why schools must offer culturally relevant curriculum. Teach history and dismantle bigotry.

As SPI, I will do away with this. Teacher should be based on what teachers want to know versus what a non-teacher administrator thinks that they need to know.
