Over the past two years I completed 20 paintings that together form a body of work I call Metaphysical Transitions. This post gathers them for the first time as a whole—and marks a moment of departure. I’m stepping away from this body of work and preparing to begin another.
These paintings emerged from a period of personal and creative rupture, followed by a return to the studio without a fixed plan. I let intuition lead, trusting the process in the way alchemists describe prima materia: a formless, raw substance brimming with potential, awaiting transformation. What followed was not a linear project, but a slow unfolding. The path was winding and full of side-quests, but ultimately I was able to level up.
At its core, this body of work is about transformation—identity in flux, breakdowns that precede renewal, and the uneasy tension between creative will, inevitable failure- and the importance of remaining true to your authentic self. I’m grateful for the struggle that produced this work, for the patience it demanded, and for the clarity it ultimately gave me. Metaphysical Transitions feels complete. What comes next is still undefined—and that feels exactly right.
