Mime Theatre Studio celebrates World Mime Day 2026. This celebration of the art of mime is observed in many countries around the world. It takes place annually on March 22 — the anniversary of the birth of Marcel Marceau, the legendary master of mime.
MTS instructor Lorin Eric Salm coached Ethan Slater (Boq in the Wicked movies and SpongeBob in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical) in his preparation to play Marcel Marceau in this new play opening off-Broadway next week. Before Marceau became the world's most famous mime, he worked with the French Resistance in WWII to save Jewish children, smuggling them by train to safety in Switzerland. 'Marcel on the Train' dramatizes this lesser-known part of Marceau's story. The show runs Feb. 5 - Mar. 14 at Classic Stage Company.

Congratulations to Mime Theatre Studio Level II students April, Camilo Eraso, K. Henderson, and Anthony Sherritt on a wonderful performance this past weekend at the 2025 Los Angeles Mime Festival's "Chrysalis: New Artist Showcase". They presented "The Four Elements," a montage of movement studies from the mime technique of Marcel Marceau.
For almost 25 years, Mime Theatre Studio has offered in-person mime training in Los Angeles. Beginning in 2020, MTS expanded its reach worldwide by adding online workshops, classes, and private instruction. This month, the school celebrates 5 YEARS ONLINE and has welcomed students from 19 countries on five continents to date!
Mime Theatre Studio would like to thank all our online students, past and present. We look forward to continuing to foster appreciation for the art of mime from our home base in Los Angeles to students around the world!
