We are so proud to celebrate Karen Jaeger and her 42 remarkable years of service to LAUSD! In addition to being an outstanding teacher, Mrs. Jaeger has served as a dedicated GATE/SAS coordinator for many years. She wears many hats and is a truly invaluable part of her school community.

Mrs. Jaeger’s tireless advocacy for gifted and advanced learners, deep commitment to her students, and unwavering support of GATE programming have made a lasting impact on countless students and families. This event is open to LAUSD students in grades 8–12 and is such a great opportunity to connect with other student leaders, hear from keynote speaker Dr. Jacqueline Sanderlin, and learn how to lead with purpose while creating positive change in your schools and communities 💙

Back together and it felt SO good 💙✨

Our 17th Annual Symposium on Gifted and Talented Education: Creating Thinking Classrooms for Advanced Learners, and what a day it was! The energy, the learning, the collaboration… all in person again for the first time since the pandemic 🥹🙌

From powerful sessions on critical & creative thinking to full rooms of educators ready to grow and support our advanced learners, this one meant something special. Grateful for every presenter, educator, and team member who made this such a success. THIS is what it’s all about 💫

🎉 What an inspiring day at the LAUSD Gifted and Talented Education Student Conference!

This past Saturday, gifted students from across the District gathered at Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools for a day of learning, connection, and inspiration. 💡

From thought-provoking breakout sessions led by our amazing student facilitators to an unforgettable keynote from Brandon Fleming, the energy and engagement were truly next level. Students explored topics like managing stress and perfectionism, shared their voices, and built community with peers who share their passion for learning. 🌟

A huge thank-you to our presenters, volunteers, educators, and the Gifted/Talented Programs, Advanced Learning Options team for making this event a success, and to every student who showed up eager to grow, reflect, and lead. 💬🙌

Proud of the work we do every day to ensure equitable access and meaningful opportunities for our gifted learners 🌟
Our director, Erin Yoshida-Ehrmann, gave a phenomenal interview back in September, highlighting the District’s efforts to expand access to GATE, address misconceptions about giftedness, and strengthen differentiated supports across our schools.
