🧩Helping kids put words to their feelings is a gift that lasts a lifetime.
When children can label emotions, they’re more likely to self-regulate, build empathy, and communicate what they need. 💬💛
💡 Tip: Model naming your emotions out loud—kids learn best when they see it in action.
💬 What feeling word does your child use the most right now?

💭 Ever wonder who’s behind these videos? 👋🏾
I’m Adrienne—a developmental therapist in LA, finishing my Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy. My journey started when my parents adopted and cared for a neurodivergent child. Helping them as a kid shaped me into the caretaker + advocate I am today. 💚
I believe families deserve support without shame, and I’m here to share tools, encouragement, and real-life strategies.
✨ Fun facts: I’m from NY 🗽, a HUGE Buffalo Bills fan 🏈, Disney-obsessed ✨, and cat mom to Simba 🐾

Why does your kid always lose it when you’re already drained? 😅
Well, your kiddo naturally “borrows your calm” That’s called ✨Co-regulation✨ — and it’s not just for neurodivergent kids, it’s for all kids (and honestly, all of us).
Everyone gets dysregulated (me in LA traffic 🙋🏽♀️), but with the right tools we can stay calm and not sweat the small stuff. 🌴✨

🧩Why do tantrums happen?
Aren’t they the WORST?! The interesting thing about tantrums is that they’re not just “attention-seeking” or kids being “bad.”
Tantrums happen when a child’s emotions grow bigger than the skills they have to handle them.
✨ Your child is simply having a hard time. What helps most?
Calm presence
safety, &
gentle guidance.
💭 Many parents in my clinical experience say the hardest part is staying calm themselves while their child is in full meltdown mode.

🧩Wondering why your child melts down?
It’s not about testing limits—it’s a nervous system overload. Meltdowns are involuntary, and your child might feel terrified, frustrated, or out of control.
They need support, understanding, and safety while they ride through the storm of their big feelings.
My clients have shared the hardest thing for them is the fear for their child’s safety, or not knowing how to help their kiddo in the moment.
What’s the hardest thing for you when it comes to meltdowns? Share in the comments.
