University of Southern California Pathology Graduate Program

The program educates individuals to become scientists and pursue careers in biomedical research and/or teaching in an academic or commercial environment

Our emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary approaches to study human disease. The members of the Department of Pathology devote a major portion of their time to research in such areas as Tumor Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Viral and Chemical Carcinogenesis, Human Retrovirology, Liver and Pulmonary Diseases, Circulatory Diseases, and Ophthalmology and Neurodegenerative Diseases. Students can fulfill their MS degree by an experiment-based or theory-based thesis option. Each student’s program will be tailored to suit their individual needs and background. Courses are offered in General Pathology, Molecular Biology of Cancer, Viral Oncology, Stem Cell Biology, Molecular Bases of Diseases and Techniques in Experimental Pathology. Other graduate courses offered include Biochemistry, Physiology, Histology, and Microbiology.
