University of California’s standard requirements and the California Department of Education Common Core Standards, the course materials are intended to provide extra challenges in critical reading, writing, research, and interdisciplinary studies. Our interdisciplinary approach between English and the Social Sciences creates a clear understanding of historical reference and literature. Writing is a major component of both programs. In Mathematics and Sciences, conceptual ideas are the basis for the courses. Students are highly encouraged to learn concepts first, followed by applications of each respective discipline. Modern Languages are taught with strong emphasis in developing both a passion for the language as well as an understanding of the culture. With a unique emphasis on individual attention, students at AUP are encouraged to be actively engaged, both within the classroom as well as in the greater Los Angeles community.
