A Word from Richard Cabral: A year and half ago, the world watched as Los Angeles burned for days.
Eaton and Palisades Fire. January 7, 2025.
No time in history had Los Angeles been shut down in such a way and no time in history had such a horrific event burned our communities to ash.
Me and my family were one of thousands whose life was ripped apart.
There are no words to truly describe the trauma of witnessing your neighbors running away from a wild fire that no one could contain.
We self-evacuated that evening of January 7th as the Eaton Fire roared through Altadena, scorching everything it could…
Our entire home was burnt to ash as thousands of my neighbor’s also.
This event was by far my one of the hardest things I had to endure, especially as a husband and father.
My Therapy is my Art, my Art is Storytelling and this is all I could do.
This film FUEGO is dedicated to my family, my neighbors, my community of Altadena and those that passed away in the fire that evening…
This is my Love Letter to the city that I love and grew up in, Los Angeles.
The world might forget about tragedies as the next ones occur so frequently, but this tragedy will be in my heart forever as this film will be.
Thank you to Robert Benavides for being down to this with me from the very beginning, with no money, just for the sake of telling the Story…
Thank you to Anthony L Gilardi, my dear friend for wanting to back me up and produce this.
Arthur James for understanding what I was trying to reveal in the editing.
Jojo, Luis, rocking with us that day… Andrea for seeing it through and adding so much to the aftercare of this film. Maria from Plaza De La Raza for opening there doors for our Production.
And most importantly Thank You to my beautiful wife who has been down with me since day one and endured this event from the beginning till the end…
May this film FUEGO bring healing to our community and understating to the world of what Los Angeles endured…
With Love & Respect,
Richard Cabral ~
