Neuroscience and faith meets here to give us the push to get workouts done.

Recent Neuroscience studies has found that a physical region of our brains called the Anterior Mid-Cingulate Cortex (aMCC): the place that acts as a core hub for willpower and tenacity., physically grows and strengthens when you voluntarily force yourself to do positive things you do not want to do.

We seek comfort over anything. But to grow requires trimming. Growth can be painful. Not all pain or discomfort is harmful. My hope for us is that we grow through these temporarily painful experiences, and stay flexible as we mature.

I’m cheering for you! ✨

The floor dumbbell chest press is a simple, beginner-friendly way to strengthen your chest, shoulders, and triceps—and you don’t need a bench to do it.

Focus on:
✔️ Wrists stacked over elbows
✔️ Elbows and shoulders at about 90°
✔️ Controlled movement
✔️ Core engaged

BONUS: Add your legs for an extra core challenge.

Form first. ✨

You don’t need complicated workouts. You need movements you can do well—and consistency you can build on.

Save this for your next home workout.

Keeping my health on my priority list means staying committed to my routine—even when I have to pivot.

My thumb is sprained, so right now, lifting weights the way I planned isn’t an option.

But there are many ways to stay active. I can still work my muscles with bodyweight movements that don’t involve my injured hand.

I’m committed to this.

So instead of saying, “I can’t,” I’m asking, “How can I?”

Sometimes staying committed doesn’t mean doing things the way you planned. It means finding another way forward.

I’m cheering for you as you cheer for me. 📣💚

…This is what joy looks like to me.✨

Spending a special time with a friend.
The gift of exploring somewhere new.
Doing the 10-minute workout that’s the commitment I made to my health.

And being present enough to actually enjoy the life I’m living.

Joy isn’t always found in the big moments. Sometimes it’s in realizing, I’m here. I’m showing up. I’m keeping my word. I’m making room for connection, discovery, and delight.

And through it all, I thank God for His presence—because every good thing is sweeter when I remember Who is with me. 💚

Evidence changes the story you tell yourself.

Since August 6th, I’ve been keeping an Evidence Log for this new phase of my fitness journey.

And looking back at those workouts reminds me:

I AM doing it.

Tracking isn’t about obsessing over numbers. It’s about making the invisible visible.

Instead of only tracking vanity metrics or outcomes I can’t completely control, I’m tracking the behaviors that are within my control:

→ Showing up
→ Moving my body
→ Strength training
→ Completing my 10 minutes
→ Following through
→ Keeping commitments to myself
→ Making the next aligned choice

The research on progress monitoring supports something I’ve experienced firsthand: recording and monitoring progress can help translate goals into action and support goal attainment.

And there’s another reason I love this practice.

When brain noise tells me, “You’re not doing enough,” I can look at the evidence.

Not feelings.

Not perfection.

Evidence.

I’m grateful for the ability to move.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to practice consistency.
And I’m grateful that I’m learning to bridge the gap between knowing and doing.

We’re becoming doers, not just hearers. 💚

I committed to moving at least 10 minutes daily. Every minute counts. Here’s a 1 minute cycle that you may grab and add to your day. Repeat as many times as you’d like throughout your day.

Save this and let me know if you try it.

Story Time - I was planning to get back on track with my fitness routine - someday.

But God had other plans.

One morning, I caught my reflection in the glass door and heard: “Workout. Right now. Just 10 minutes.”

So I did.

And that 10-minute workout in my pajamas became the beginning of this new phase.

Sometimes the restart isn’t your idea.
Sometimes it’s an invitation.

If you’ve been waiting for the “right” time to start again, let this be a gentle nudge. Choose one small step you can take today—drink a glass of water, stretch for five minutes, take a short walk, or set a 10-minute timer and begin. Then share your step with me in the comments so we can encourage one another.

“Keep going” doesn’t mean you never have stops in the middle.

Stops happen when capacity gets low, when life throws you curves, when you’re growing, or when you’re grieving.

But a stop doesn’t mean the story is over.

This is your sign that you can go again.
You can move again.
You can do the things you’d rather not do—but know are good for you.
You can do scary things.

You can begin again without pretending the stop never happened.

I’m cheering for you as you cheer for me. 🙌🏽💚
