If you look close, you'll see that the line art here is visibly pixelated. This is part of the Schoolhouse Rock shorts and one of my favorites. I don't expect something from a big company like Disney to look as shoddy as this does. Not only did someone make the original mistake to have this look like it does, other people in the pipeline saw it and still did nothing.

Please fix this, Disney!

WRITING LONGFORM COMICS!

So, you're thinking about creating some comics. Excellent! But are you stuck at the idea stage and need some help moving forward? Have you been sitting on an idea for a graphic novel or series for a long time? Maybe for years? One reason why is that it's tough to just suddenly jump-start something on your own. Use the class to break that barrier and actually start working on the comic that you know you want to do. The class will motivate you.

The WRITING LONGFORM COMICS class will get you on your way. Before you sit down to do the art (or hire someone to do it) you need to make sure your story is as good as it can be. I'll help you with story structure, character development, and get you to bring out the emotional beats and the themes you want to explore. Plus, you'll get constructive feedback and support from the other students. You'll finish the class with a scene-by-scene outline, all ready to draw or to move on to the script stage with. Plus you'll have deadlines to get things done. Every creative person works better with deadlines, right?

You must be 18 or older to take the class.

A little about me: I've been a writer and editor of comics for over 25 years. I'm a former DC Comics editor. I've taught comics classes at CalArts, The School of Visual Arts, and the writing program at UCLA Extension.
