Housing stability is directly connected to student success.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has introduced a proposal that could affect families living in public housing and Section 8 programs.
While no rules have changed yet, the proposal could increase housing instability and student homelessness if finalized.
This is a proposal — not current law. Families should not self-evict or move based on rumors.
The federal public comment period is now open. If you would like to share how housing instability affects students and communities, comments must be submitted by April 21.
We encourage our community to stay informed, rely on trusted information, and seek legal guidance before making any housing decisions.

LACOE, in partnership with Path2Papers, is pleased to invite all educators in Los Angeles County to an upcoming presentation: “Supporting Dreamers and DACA Educators and Staff in Challenging Times.”
As immigration policies continue to change, many undocumented community members, including Dreamers and DACA recipients, face increased uncertainty, especially when their immigration status is temporary or unstable. Dreamers play essential roles in our schools as educators and staff, and this instability has significant implications for school teams and the students they serve.
We encourage you to share this opportunity widely with your colleagues, human resources staff, site and district leaders, and any team members who support Dreamers and DACA recipients.
