Dave is a firm believer in letting dreams drive direction. He's not just another LA based voice coach. This same philosophy goes into each lesson he teaches.
Having Dave as your voice coach means having someone on your team that understands everything you need. Dave Stroud is a serial entrepreneur, voice teacher and visionary. He finds his greatest happiness and satisfaction in life teaching singers – one to one. After residing in Utah for the first 23 years of his life, Dave found San Francisco to be home for almost 17 years before landing in Los Ange
les and has been in LA since. He believes the motivation sprung from this will give one the ability to learn the tools and attain the knowledge to be successful in any endeavor. As a result, Dave has built a number of businesses over the years that have ranged from a very successful night club (DV8) to a teacher certification program (SLS), to a magazine for singers (Connecting Voices), to his latest project, VocalizeU. Dave attributes his successes, in and outside of the music business, to his willingness to be wrong. He takes the singing beyond just having vocal control to delivering their best performances. He strives to positively influence his students to be resilient and not be afraid of being wrong. Out of that willingness comes some of the greatest growth and performances. This philosophy of learning is something Dave has observed in the great singers he was lucky enough to work with and in the more evolved business people he has met. This attitude is the driving force behind building great artists and singers. Dave has worked with some of the most notable singers and musical projects of the last 30 years, including working with American Idol tours, being called in to substitute and work with Michael Jackson for his “This is It” tour, working as a coach on the “The Sing Off”, and traveling to more than a dozen countries to train other voice coaches and their clients. Dave has given many lectures on vocal process and development at many prestigious places around the world including: National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, National Association of Teachers of Singing, Stanford University, University of Southern California, San Francisco Conservatory, Palo Alto Research Center, Pacific Voice Foundation, Canadian Voice Care Foundation, Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, Kunstuniversitaet Graz in Austria, and numerous other jazz organizations and societies including the Jazz School in Berkeley, California and Jazz Camp West. Dave enjoys working with students of all ability levels. He works with students ranging from Billboard Hot 100 recording artists to Broadway stars to beginning vocal students. After giving Justin Timberlake a voice lesson, Dave began working with artists on Justin’s label Interscope, Tenman Records, including Youtube star Esmee Denters, Brenda Radney, Elliot and Free from Freesoul. Dave is also committed to training other vocal instructors and dedicates a lot of time traveling to other countries ranging from Australia, Austria, Germany, France, the UK, Mexico China, Singapore, Korea, and Japan to train teachers, as well as, work with singers and artists abroad. The fact is, all of this happened because Dave’s dream of being Iron Man was taken, so Dave decided to pursue music and singing, instead.
