ServiceWorksLA kicks off today at All Peoples Community Center in South Central, Los Angeles! Youth begin to identify what leaders looks like and empower each other to share how they are leaders in their own right by naming their assets and owning them. This powerful narrative also includes strengthening and building their communication styles and coming together to create community agreements as they continuously take action in each other's learning by building long lasting relationships. Thanks and big ups to the passionatley dedicated team: Ana Torres, Fabiola Lopez, Sarah Reyes, Yensenia Morales and Alonzo Warren.

Let's celebrate our Scholars from Maya Angelou on a successful Capstone Project about animal cruelty! They recently finished their capstone project in which they collected 111 surveys from their classmates. These surveys showed that not enough folks knew that spaying and neutering was required by law. To that end, they went classroom to classroom and spoke to their classmates about why it was important to spay and neuter their pets and how it was related to the overpopulation of dogs and cats in Los Angeles animal shelters and why it's good for public health.
A round of applause!
