I'm a doctor of English, but more importantly, I'm a seasoned writing and literature professor with a decade of tutoring experience. Services I offer include:
Line Editing: Imagine if you could give your professor your paper and have all of the markups and comments with tons of time to correct everything before you get the grade. I’ll work with you to troubleshoot and tackle all issues, big and small, from shaky arguments to sentence structure to citation style. Literature Tutoring: Over your head in an English class? Don’t know what to say in discussions and know the professor is looking for a little more insight than what’s in the Spark Notes? (Yes, we know those exist too.) Together we’ll break down those books and create new and interesting topics for you to rack up those class participation points and ace any in-class essays. Brainstorming: Every A paper starts with an A concept and thesis. If you’re the type who panics when you see a paper prompt, I’ll talk through it with you. Think of this as having unlimited access to office hours – including nights and weekends. We’ll work through ideas until we have the one that will wow your teacher (and even may be fun to write)! Research: Reaching a dead-end with sources? Or not sure where to begin? I’ll help you gather sources and evaluate them. I can also assist you with learning how to close-read those tricky articles that your professor insists you use. By the time we’re done, they’ll not only make sense, but you’ll also know how to pick out and evaluate the most important quotes. Graduate School Applications: The statement of purpose can help an application make or break a great application from a promising student.
