The event will begin at 9:00 AM, so please plan to arrive by that time.

We kindly ask you to have your child wear the team color on the event day.

If you cannot participate on May 10th, we need to adjust the number of team members, so please contact us as soon as possible.

Parents and guardians will stay with their child while they are waiting for their activities.

We recommend bringing the folding chairs or a picnic mat if you prefer to sit comfortably!

PICTURE DAY on April 5th!

During our regular school hours, we will have everyone's portrait photos taken by a professional photographer, Kentaro Sensei, on April 5th!
Please let your child know about it beforehand so they feel ready to make big smiles! : )

*Please let your teacher know if your child will be absent on Picture Day.

As we approach the JIS Grand Opening and 100th Anniversary Ceremony on February 22nd, we kindly remind you that the deadline for Bento orders is this Saturday, February 8th. If you order the bento, we will distribute it during the ceremony, and you will be able to eat it while we are having student/ guest performances. *The students can eat the bento before or after their performance.

This year, for Setsubun, Kiichi Class and Mika Class bravely fought against Oni (鬼) while chanting "Oni wa Soto! Fuku wa Uchi"!

After assessing the current situation, we are pleased to announce that JIS will resume in-person Saturday school at the West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple starting this Saturday. We are excited to welcome the students back to class and continue their learning in a safe and supportive environment.

No School this Saturday

Due to the ongoing wildfires all around Los Angeles, JIS has made the decision to close classes on January 11th. The safety and well-being of our community, including JIS families and staff, remain our top priority.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by these challenging events. We are incredibly grateful for the brave firefighters, first responders, and all those working tirelessly to combat the fires and support the affected communities. Please stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming you back as soon as conditions allow.

I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful winter break! Just a friendly reminder that we are resuming classes this Saturday, January 4th. We will follow our regular schedule from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
We'll have some fun Oshogatsu (New Year's Day) activities to kick off the year.

Yochibu, Soma, and Hiromi Class will have a mini Halloween party this week during the 4th period. Parents are welcome to attend!

There will be early dismissal at 10:40 am.

For Tanabata this year, JIS students wrote their wishes on strips of paper called "tanzaku". We hope their wishes come true!
