Monday Technique Intensive Program - (6:30pm - 10:30pm)
Ms. Ballentine has designed this class to equip the actor with a solid, specific, and dependable craft that he will use throughout his career. At whatever level, the actor who would master his craft and his instrument will seek to eliminate all that is “accidental” in his process, and create a solid foundation on which to build his talents. This program is beneficial to all levels of actors. The Program begins with mastering the elements that build a truthful character, adding imagination to true life experience, and combining them in a way that will enhance originality and uniqueness to the character’s choices. This program is beneficial to all levels of actors. Classes are ongoing for students with prior training. For Beginning actors, contact the studio for information on upcoming classes. Cost: $300/Month
You can also take two classes together. The cost per month is $450. All credit card payments will be charged a 2.7% processing fee. Tuesday MADLER - From Meisner to Adler - From Script to Performance - Intermediate - (6:30pm - 10:30pm)
The script analysis aspect of these classes teaches the technique of intensive script interpretation and its application to the rehearsal and performance process. This class further advances the actor’s technique to develop and integrate the imagination with one’s own experience by introducing the actor to the world of text, where one’s choices must be original and creative, yet support and serve the writer’s/director’s ideas. For the month of June, we will begin working on "Summer and Smoke" by Tennesee Williams. This class will become the “bridge” to the Master Scene Study/Showcase Class. Classes are ongoing COST: $300/month
You can also take two classes together. The cost per month is $450
All credit card payments will be charged a 2.7% processing fee. Thursday Master Scene Study/Showcase Class - Advanced - (6:30pm - 10:30pm)
This Master Class for 2014 will now also be a Showcase Class. Marjorie Ballentine will choose the best eight to ten scenes every two to three months to showcase to an audience of top managers, agents, casting directors, and producers. The class enhances the artistic collaboration among actor, director, and writer, further exploring the actor's understanding that he is the instrument: the voice, the physical, the mind, the soul: all must function as one unit. This training is designed to achieve the full integration of the disciplines needed to develop an actor who is centered, confident, and persevering. The actor must reclaim his dignity as an artist and seek work with confidence and know-how in an industry that demands professionalism, toughness, confidence, and fluency in his overall presentation. This class may be taken alone or in conjunction with Audition Technique and/or From Script to Performance. COST: $300/month, **Audition required*
You can also take two classes together. If you want to observe the Technique Class or Master Scene Study without participating on stage, costs are as follows:
