Dance C145/245: Ethnography, Memoir, and Travel Narratives of Movement Practices - Spring 2015
Are you interested in martial arts? Do you enjoy reading and writing about what you do in the studio? Are you curious about how to write about your experience?
Consider enrolling in Ethnography, Memoir, and Travel Narratives of Movement Practices!
In this course, we will read texts by luminary authors in the fields of dance, sport, and martial arts, analyzing several modes of writing about movement: ethnography, autoethnography, memoir, and travel narrative
Dancers, martial artists, and athletes interested in writing about their own practice are particularly welcome as is anyone with a curiosity about movement and writing strategies. No prior experience with either sport/physical arts or ethnography and memoir required.
The class includes martial arts studio sessions.
