Statement from the State Administrator

La Tijera K-8 Academy of Excellence Charter School was put on lockdown today at 1:45 p.m. when students reported possibly seeing a man with a gun in the school’s parking lot. Inglewood and IUSD police both responded to the call. Two sweeps of the campus were conducted, with no weapon and no person found on or near campus. The school has been reopened and classes were dismissed as usual. The State Administrator has asked local law enforcement to maintain a presence around campus Wednesday, as an added precaution because the safety of our Inglewood students is our top priority.

La Tijera K-8 de la Academia de Excelencia charter school hoy se cerro en bloqueo a las 1:45 aprox cuando los estudiantes informaron que posiblemente habían visto a un hombre con un arma en el estacionamiento de la escuela. Inglewood y la policía de IUSD respondieron a la llamada. Se llevaron a cabo dos busquedas del campus, sin armas ni ninguna persona encontrada en la escuela o cerca. La escuela ha sido reabierta y las clases fueron despedidas como de costumbre. El Administrador del estado ha pedido a las autoridades locales que mantengan una presencia en el campus el miércoles, como una precaución adicional porque la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes de Inglewood es nuestra principal prioridad.

La Tijera K-8 Academy of Excellence Charter School will host it's 2nd Annual Family Literacy Night on Monday, October 22, 2018. We are proud and excited to offer literacy activities for students and their parent(s) from 5pm-7pm.
