What an incredible day serving the families of Assembly District 62. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to partner with Assemblymember Jose Luis Solache , whose commitment to our community continues to make a real impact. A huge thank you to our amazing friends at South Gate Kiwanis Club , our dedicated Key Club students, and the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles team for showing up with heart, energy, and service. I remember when conversations about opening a new building were nothing more than ideas or visions we would casually talk about and even joke that “one day” it might happen. To now stand here and see that vision brought to life this past year is truly remarkable.

This building represents far more than bricks and walls, it reflects years of planning and dedication. From navigating countless obstacles, securing approvals, aligning resources, and managing delays, to ensuring that every detail served the needs of our scholar.

Thank you to and the Alliance Foundation for your leadership, partnership, and for being here today to celebrate the ribbon cutting of The Frank Baxter Community Center. Your support played a vital role in turning this dream into a reality.
Today’s celebration is not just about a new facility, it’s about expanding opportunities, strengthening community ties, and honoring the vision of those who believed we could create something meaningful for generations to come. 🏫

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who joined us this weekend for our Tree Lighting event. Bringing our community together for this special tradition is something I look forward to every holiday season.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to my Alliance family for showing up and celebrating with us. Moments like these remind me how strong we are when our schools support one another. It’s truly amazing to witness our students, families, staff, and neighboring Alliance schools come together to uplift our community. Every event we share reinforces the values of unity, collaboration, and pride that make Alliance so special.

Today, I had the honor of showing up and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our community. As a principal, I see every day how immigration enforcement impacts the lives of our students and families. Being present as the Oversight Democrats launched the Immigration Enforcement Dashboard was a powerful reminder that our voices matter, and that our communities deserve transparency, protection, and truth.

At , our mission is rooted in being anti-racist and pro-Black, and that means showing up wherever systems threaten the dignity, safety, and humanity of the young people we serve. This work is about protecting our kids, uplifting our families, and fighting for the justice they deserve.

Their leadership, advocacy, and unwavering love for our South LA families is felt every single day — we had the joy of giving a little of that love back. 💛 🖤
