Media Arts and Culture major Amare Askerneese ’26 experienced his first international travel with a semester abroad, studying filmmaking in England—an opportunity made possible thanks to the Oxy Fund.

This push outside his comfort zone allowed Amare to realize he wants to "create films that speak to universal experiences that anyone can identify with." He's now preparing to teach formerly-incarcerated students the art of filmmaking through Oxy's Undergraduate Research Center this summer.
