Fear can open the door to growth🌎

For kinesiology major Mayah Aguilera ’28, an 18-day faculty-led research experience in the Galápagos Islands became an opportunity to explore the connections between health, community, conservation, and culture.

Through Occidental’s Richter Faculty-Led Research Abroad program, Mayah studied the islands’ food systems, connected with local communities, and discovered the value of slowing down and being present. She also found the courage to push beyond what once felt out of reach, and returned home with new dreams for serving her Los Angeles community.

The Class of 2030 made their Occidental debut Monday morning!

Thorne Hall was buzzing with energy as faculty, staff, and Taiko drummers welcomed the newest Tigers to campus for Convocation.

The morning also featured remarks from Board Chair Art Peck '77 P'10 P'14, President Tom Stritikus, Dean Angie Bos, and ASOC President Trisha Bhima '27, with a special performance from the Occidental College Glee Club.

That's a wrap!🌟 Another Undergraduate Research Center Summer Research Program is in the books. After 10 weeks of intensive academic research, 144 students presented their findings at the Summer Research Program Conference in the Academic Commons.
