Many of you know him as a colleague, professor, friend, DOF, Chair, Associate Chair, Associate Dean, plus many other titles. Man earns bachelor's degree behind bars; Making plea for commutation Freddie Hernandez celebrated his 47th birthday and graduated as a keynote speaker from Cal State LA's Prison Graduation Initiative while serving life without parole in a California men's prison.

Yesterday our students in Lancaster graduated with their BA in Communication Studies. 50 students have received their BA, over 3 cohorts. And in 2026, 32 more students will join them. It was a good and joyous day.
