From the owner: Interesting article on SAT/ACT essays (L.A. Times). I've always believed that colleges use the SAT/ACT essay as a "safety check" for other writing samples from their applicants. Anyway, the following is food for thought:

California, kill the SAT and ACT essay Admissions offices at only 28 colleges and university require submission of a score on the ACT and SAT essay tests. Half of the 28 are in California.
