A brilliant eye for period design and detail--and persistence when it comes to a project, automotive or otherwise. Just a great page.

Bungalowcraft was a publishing firm that began issuing architectural pattern books in 1909 featuring, not surprisingly, plans for increasingly popular Craftsman bungalows. Ten years later, interest in the style was fading, but Bungalowcraft adapted to changing tastes all the way into the 1950s. Its design for the quintessentially postwar Los Angeles house at 300 North June Street was built in 1946. The full story of 300 is here: bit.ly/4aKLJiJ

Full story: bit.ly/23BWU8P

After coming on the market for the first time in 57 years, it sold quickly, closing on April 22, 2024, for $5,502,900.

Everything is just right: What might be the quintessential Los Angeles house—one designed by Paul Revere Williams nine years into his groundbreaking career—is one still standing virtually untouched in Windsor Square. Built in 1932, it is doubly attractive in that its setting, unlike many significant Los Angeles houses, has survived without having been spoiled by modern upgrades such as a sweeping driveway and elaborate fencing. It's all in the details.

Harry H. Belden was a prolific builder of residences in Hancock Park, including 12 of the 14 houses on June Street between Third and Fourth streets, with 355 among his speculative offerings.
