Hello from Los Angeles! I started writing this last week after our Instagram Giveaway, but have not been able to post it due to the Los Angeles wildfires. My family has not been directly impacted by the wildfires, with the exception of losing power Tuesday night until late Wednesday afternoon. However, at this time the fire in the Pacific Palisade fire is moving closer to the San Fernando Valley where I reside. At this time, it does not look like we will have to evacuate.
I do ask that you hold space for the people who are impacted by the fires, especially those in Altadena which is home to many Black Americans due to the redlining policies in Los Angeles, that forced Black homebuyers to that area. There are many thriving Black neighborhoods there that have been impacted, and as homeowners have tried to retrieve their belongings, they have been met with allegations of looting. Losing a home is not just about losing possessions, it's about losing our safety, security, memories, culture, and legacy.
We know many of you have direct connections to impacted families in the Los Angeles areas. Please reach out to me if there is someone(s) who would benefit from any of our items from the Restore Store, and we will get that to them FREE of charge.
I will post about our January updates in a separate post!

“Not all teachers love children. Some people just go to work for work. But as long as you love children, you’re in the right field. Helping these babies make their milestones; that is awesome for me: sounds, shapes, colors. Those things are very important. But you have to show some type of affection, right? You're with them for eight hours a day. If they come to a classroom and don’t feel love, they won’t want to be there. I’m always telling the children to give me love. And when I say to give me love, that means to give me a hug. So I hug the children a lot. One day a mother came to me, and she said that her child kept giving her hugs. She wanted to know where it was coming from. I told her it was coming from me.”
