Kelly Younger ’94, professor of English and affiliate professor of Theatre Arts, earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for his work on The Muppet Show, produced by Seth Rogen and starring Sabrina Carpenter.

Younger has spent years bringing beloved characters and stories to new audiences. His career spans film, television, animation, and theater, with credits connected to Disney, Pixar, Amazon MGM, and other major studios. He continues that work while teaching writing and storytelling at LMU, giving students a firsthand look at today’s entertainment industry.

Some of Southern California's most important environmental research is happening just a few miles from LMU.

Through the LMU Coastal Research Institute, a partnership with The Bay Foundation, students have the opportunity to work alongside scientists on active restoration projects that help shape the future of our local coastline. This summer, that meant everything from monitoring sand dunes to collecting data that will inform future conservation efforts.

It's one of the many ways learning at LMU extends well beyond the classroom and into the communities we call home.

Before joining the Los Angeles Sparks, Kass Galvan discovered that some of the most important work in basketball happens beyond the court.

Her time with LMU Women's Basketball gave her the chance to take on responsibility, build lasting relationships and develop the attention to detail needed to succeed at the professional level.

“I’m grateful for my time as a student manager with LMU WBB, as it prepared me well for the pros,” Kass shared.

Now helping support her hometown team during a landmark moment for women’s basketball, Kass is turning years of preparation into an exciting career in the game. 🏀

While still earning her marketing degree at LMU, Grecia Alvarez is already helping shape how fans experience the World Cup at FOX.

“Culturally, the World Cup has been present throughout different stages of my life,” Grecia shared. “Having the opportunity to live and breathe this moment alongside the people who make it happen during my college journey will be unforgettable.”

Through her work, Grecia has contributed to World Cup partnerships, supported live production, and gained an inside look at how major sports moments come together.

Now continuing her journey with FOX Entertainment, she’s building on that experience while exploring her passion for brand partnerships and marketing during one of the biggest events in global sports. ⚽️🎬
